Botox (botulinum toxin)

Botulinum toxin type A (popularly known as Botox) is currently used for the cosmetic treatment of facial expression wrinkles. It acts on the muscular contraction, thus lessening the appearance of facial wrinkles.

Application: It is applied by means of injections on the face with local anaesthesia, in one or several sessions depending on the desired result and the points to be treated. Its effects are temporary, they appear a few hours after treatment and its duration can vary between 4-6 months.

Indications:

  • Facial wrinkles on the forehead and between the eyebrows
  • Lessening of «crow’s feet» appearance
  • Lifting of the eyebrows
  • Lifting of the nasal tip

We must not forget that this is a medical treatment.

Although it is a simple and safe treatment, it must be administered by qualified medical practitioners, with full expertise and knowledge of the anatomy of the face in order to avoid unnecessary complications due to misuse and achieve the desired effects.

Hyaluronic acid

Hyaluronic acid is a substance that is found naturally in the body, especially in the skin. It acts by giving volume and moisture to the skin. Over the years, the proportion of endogenous hyaluronic acid decreases, producing dehydration and loss of volume, which contributes to the loss of tone, loss of volume, sagging and facial wrinkles.

Application: It is applied by means of generally deep injections with local anaesthesia, in one or several sessions depending on the desired result and the areas to be treated. Its effects appear immediately after the application of the product and can last for 9 to 18 months, depending on the treated area, the presentation of the product used and the patient’s metabolism.

Indications:

  • Perioral wrinkles (around the mouth)
  • Nasolabial grooves
  • Periocular wrinkles (around the eyes)
  • Wrinkles between the eyebrows
  • Facial contour enhancement
  • Cheekbone augmentation (higher cheekbones)
  • Lip plumping and shaping («Cupid’s bow»)
